Flash flood watch continues through Wednesday

DENVER - Heavy rainfall is expected to return Wednesday.

High and low pressure systems combined with typical summer monsoon moisture caused 2 to 3 inches of rain to fall in less than an hour in some places Tuesday afternoon. The rain is expected to continue overnight into Wednesday.

Nearly the whole state is under a flash flood watch through Wednesday afternoon.

Tuesday's heavy rainfall caused flooding on area streets in the Denver metro area. Traffic on Interstate 25 in the Loveland/Fort Collins area was stop and go due to heavy rain, Colorado State Patrol tweeted.
