KUSA - Our unusually warm October has made it tough for ski resorts.
Keystone announced Tuesday that it will delay its opening a week due to the weather. It was originally slated to open on Friday, but is now shooting for Nov. 11 instead.
“Our top priority at Keystone is to provide our guests with the best early-season ski and ride experience possible,” Keystone’s chief operating officer Mike Goar said in a news release. “While Mother Nature has not made it easy for recent snowmaking operations, our team is ready to fire up the snow guns at every opportunity as weather gets cooler this week and next. We look forward to opening as soon as we feel we can provide our guests with a better experience and quality snow conditions.”
At this point, Arapahoe Basin is the only Colorado ski area open.
The perennial early-opener started up its lifts on Oct. 21. At this point, there’s not much open, and the resort hasn’t seen snow in more than 48 hours, according to Colorado Ski’s website.
