Rain, snow to start Thursday

Becky Ditchfield has your Thursday midday forecast. 9NEWS at 11 a.m. 10/6/16.

KUSA - Snow in the mountains in the foothills could fall as low as 6,500 feet along the Front Range with 1 to 3 inches accumulation along and south of I-70, 2 to 5 inches accumulation north of I-70 for elevations above 8,000 feet.

Showers will end in the Denver metro area during the morning.  For Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley rain showers may last until late in the afternoon.

Moderate to heavy rain is expected over the northeastern plains of Colorado and western Nebraska.

Clearing skies overnight will lead to below freezing temperatures for the Front Range and eastern plains Friday morning. 

Sunny, warm weather returns for the weekend.
