Snowless in November? It might just happen

The record high temperature for November 23, in Denver, is 73 degrees set back in 1913.

Thursday's temp will come close to tying or even breaking that. The forecast is for 72 degrees.

Most of the Denver area will make it into the 70's again on Friday.

More 70's likely Sunday and Monday after a minor cold front passes through the area on Saturday.

Then we enter into a cooler pattern starting Monday night with a few days with highs in the 40's and 50's.

Not only has it been unseasonably warm in November, it also has been very dry. So far there has only been a trace of snow at Denver's official weather station at DIA. That means there has been a little snowfall, but not enough to get a measurement.

Denver is at risk of going snowless November. The last time Denver did not get any measurable snowfall in the month of November, was 68 years ago in 1949.

There is a good opportunity to record some snow late Monday night, into Tuesday morning though.

The cold front on Saturday will not be too impressive. Just a few inches of snow high in the mountains, and just a little cooler at the lower elevations.

The better storm system could get here as early as Monday night. Both the European and the American synoptic scale computer models are showing snow in Denver on Tuesday, and both of them show the snow heavy enough to get some accumulation.

There only has to be a tenth of an inch to count as an official measurement, but with a warm daytime high on Monday, and borderline temperatures with that storm system, it could still be difficult to get any accumulation at the airport. Best chance would be if it times out for early Tuesday morning.

With six days still until that gets here, it's too early to speculate on just how that storm will impact us, but the early indication is that we will get just enough snow to avoid going snowless in November.
