KTVD - YOUR SHOW continued its election preview this week, beginning with a discussion about Amendment 50.

It would allow local communities such as Cripple Creek, Central City and Black Hawk the opportunity to decide, through another election, if it wanted to increase betting limits up to $100 and extend casino hours. If better limits were raised, the extra money coming in to the state through taxes would go largely to fund Colorado’s community colleges. Speaking in favor of the amendment was Katy Atkinson, representing a group called Coloradans for Community Colleges. Speaking against the amendment was Scott Yates, a Denver businessman, representing a group called Vote No on 50/Keep Vegas Out.

Viewers who participated in this conversation were: Lynn Taylor, JoAnn Sorensen, Deborah Griffin, Linda Loughery, Kassidy Hall, Joan Fiorino, Glenn Salmans, Brad Lowery, Barbara Hawk, Brent Taylor, Brian Olson, James Sample and Cindy Vetter.

YOUR SHOW then turned its attention toward professional basketball and Denver Nuggets Head Coach George Karl. He answered your questions on a wide array of topics including the trade of Marcus Camby, what it’s like coaching two superstars like Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson, whether he could be tougher as a coach, whether his team would play better defense as well as the playing time of “Birdman” Chris Andersen and J.R. Smith. He also discussed his passion for politics and his recovery and his son’s recovery from cancer.

Viewers who participated in this conversation included: Lynn Johnson, Jeff Marquez, Alex Ratliff, J.L. Mitch, Desiree Paiz, Dallas Hall, Steve Pietrafeso, Mark Merritt, Dennis DeJulio and Brian in Denver.

Next week’s program features a debate over Amendment 54 which seeks to limit those who receive government contracts from donating to political campaigns. We will also pose questions from an area 3rd grade class to prominent politicians for an Election 101 segment.
