DENVER — A woman is in the hospital after a hit-and-run crash that led to another crash on Interstate 25 early Saturday.
The Denver Police Department said a vehicle was disabled when it was hit by another vehicle that took off near the Hampden Avenue exit at around 3:30 a.m.
A semi-truck then hit the disabled vehicle from behind, police said. The semi's driver stayed at the scene.
The car was destroyed and the driver, Dawson Armstrong, told 9NEWS his friend was taken to the hospital.
Now, Armstrong wants to know who was driving the vehicle that took off.
"We wanna figure out who did it, because that sucked. We literally could have died because of that. He hit us, just took off right in the middle of I-25, one of the busiest roads in Colorado obviously, so that's not a very cool thing to do — left us just as sitting ducks and we're just thankful to be alive, like literally, so we just, we wanna figure out who did it. He deserves to get whatever justice comes for him."
Police didn't have a description for the car that drove off, but the family describes it as a mid-sized, dark red, hatchback S-U-V.

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
