MESA COUNTY, Colo. — One person died in a small plane crash Monday morning near Jerry Creek Reservoir, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office said.
Denver Aircraft Traffic Control reported losing communication and radar contact with a Beech 58TC Baron twin-engine aircraft near Castle Peak, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies and Plateau Valley Fire Department crews responded to the area to locate the aircraft, and the sheriff's office said Civil Air Patrol and Careflight were also mobilized to assist with the search.

A plane was then spotted on the ground in a remote area by a helicopter, the sheriff's office said.
The flight originated from Blake Field in Delta County, and the sheriff's office said it is was en route to Rock Springs, Wyoming.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
