Matt Renoux joined the 9NEWS in 1999 in the Mountain Newsroom which is located in Silverthorne.
Within 6 years Matt became what was then called a One Man Band: a reporter who shoots his own video and edits it. He is one of the few journalists in the country who also runs a satellite truck shooting his own live shots. Today, that term is called a backpack journalist which only means Matt continues to work alone but is supported beyond measure by the many talented journalists at the main office in Denver.
Matt is a Colorado native, fifth generation, growing up in Pueblo where most of his family still lives. He attended college at Colorado State University.
Before Matt and his wife Kelly had their daughter Sonnett, the couple enjoyed world travel, attending theater and could even be seen acting in community plays at the Lake Dillon Theater in Dillon on the side. Now, however, their world is surrounded by Elmo and Mickey Mouse with the occasional "big trip" to Sea World or Disneyland.
Like many in Colorado Matt also loves to ski and hike.
Matt would love to hear from you with any story ideas, or if you want to talk Elmo essentials, he's got the 411 on that as well.
