Skier dies after colliding with tree at Keystone Resort

The skier's name has not yet been released to the public.

A skier is dead after he collided with a tree on Sunday afternoon, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened just before 1 p.m. at Keystone Resort. After the initial 911 call, the man, later identified as Leon Harding Christopher III, was transported by Keystone Ski Patrol to the Saint Anthony Keystone Medical Clinic where he was pronounced dead.

Christopher, according to the Summit County coroner, died of blunt force trauma to the head. The 32-year-old from Raleigh, North Carolina was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Keystone Resort is located in Keystone, Colo. about 75 miles west of Denver.
