9NEWS Prep Rally Honor Roll: Plays of the Week (3/6)

We're coming to the end of Spring season, which means playoff hockey and playoff basketball will populate this week's top plays.

Our 9Preps Honor Roll consists of clutch performances at season make-or-break moments leading up to state championships.

The No. 5 play comes from one of four Great 8 5A boys basketball match-ups between the No. 5 seeded George Washington Patriots and the No. 13 seeded Smoky Hill Buffaloes. Only 10 seconds remaining on the clock, down a point, Patriots' senior Jon 'il Fugett somehow arches one over Smoky's 6-foot-8 forward to take the lead with three seconds in the game.

In another 5A Great 8 boys basketball game, No. 3 seeded Chaparral's Ronnie DeGray III made a statement with his one-hand jam against No. 6 seeded Grandview despite trailing in the second half.

On the ice for No. 3, Valor Christian made their first appearance to the Final 4 in the Colorado State Championship hockey tournament and non-other than Tim Debord carried the team with a natural hat trick all in the second period. His one, two, three goals sent the Eagles into their first ever state title appearance against the Regis Jesuit Raiders.

Our No. 2 play is high flying. Smoky Hill is known for their ability to dunk. In their Sweet 16 game against the No. 4 seeded Denver East Angels, Smoky's Quentin Rock tossed a ball up to Will Becker who came down with the rock. No. 13 Smoky Hill eventually upset the Angels to earn a spot in the Great 8.

And to cap it all off, our top play comes from down south in Colorado Springs. In a 4A Great 8 boys basketball game, Lewis-Palmer's Matthew Ragsdale launches a three at the buzzer to earn a berth in the Final 4, a pretty good birthday gift to the 6-foot junior who made the shot.

We've ranked them, now we'd like to hear what you think should be our top play! VOTE for the play you think should be placed in the top spot. The winner will be announced during the 9NEWS Sunday morning Prep Rally.

Remember, if you get a great play on camera, send it to us via email at sports@9news.com. You can also tweet us @9Preps. You never know...you could see it on our next countdown!
