Team USA skier Gus Kenworthy made headlines Sunday for a tweet criticizing Ivanka Trump’s decision to attend the Olympic closing ceremonies.
The elder daughter of President Donald Trump watched the closing ceremony in the same box as South Korean President Moon Jae-In and top North Korean official Kim Yong Chol. She has said the purpose of her visit is to advocate maximum pressure on North Korea to halt its nuclear program.
While Colorado athletes said they may not agree with either Ivanka or Donald Trump’s politics, they had tweeted nothing but positive things about meeting her.
Silver medalist bobsledder Lauren Gibbs tweeted: “It’s important to remember that we don’t have to agree on everything to get along, be civil to each other and enjoy each other’s company.”
