5-year-old boy among 2 killed in Weld County crash

The crash occurred near Highway 52 and Weld County Road 41.

A woman in her 20s and a 5-year-old boy are dead following a four-car crash at a Weld County intersection Friday morning.

Colorado State Patrol says a call first came in about the wreck at Highway 52 and Weld County Road 41 at 8:08 a.m.

According to their preliminary investigation, a vehicle heading north on County Road 41 ran a stop sign and was t-boned by a car on Highway 52, killing the driver and a young boy inside.

CSP says a 3-year-old girl was also inside that car and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The relationship between these three victims is unclear.

The person driving the vehicle that t-boned the first car was ejected and is in critical condition, according to CSP.

A medical helicopter was unable to reach the area due to fog, so all of the victims were driven to the hospital.

The people driving the third and fourth vehicles involved in the crash weren’t hurt, however, there was a child in one of those cars who was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The intersection where the crash occurred remained closed as of 10:30 a.m. Friday.

This stretch of highway is between Fort Lupton and Hudson.
