DENVER — Darius Johnson is a Reporter at 9NEWS in Denver, Colorado.

He joined 9NEWS and traveled to Denver for the first time June 2021, after two years at FOX59/CBS4 in Indianapolis.

During his time, he led COVID-19 coverage, rollout of the vaccine, May 2020 Protests and Riots, as well as the 2021 mass shooting at FedEx. He also covered federal investigations into Muncie City Hall including the Mayor’s Office, Sanitary District, and Police Department.

Before Indianapolis, Darius spent two years at WSAV (NBC) in Savannah, Ga.

Darius earned his master’s degree from Columbia Journalism School in New York and bachelor's from Morehouse College in Atlanta. While in Atlanta, Darius interned and worked as a freelance news assistant for the national content center at CNN.

Darius is a native of Chicago where he grew up on the southside. His mother was a victim of gun violence when he was only six weeks old. His tragedy is what sparks his passion and compassion for telling the stories that are often hard to tell.

Darius is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.

When he is not chasing his next lead, you can find him looking for a new restaurant or coffee shop, traveling, dancing and exploring all Colorado has to offer.

Darius is thrilled to be in the Mile High City and committed to telling your stories. If you have one for him, email or connect with him on Facebook or Twitter!
