Erica Tinsley is the Assistant News Director at 9NEWS in Denver, Colorado, focusing on the newscasts that air at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and Next with Kyle Clark at 6 p.m.
Erica joined the 9NEWS team in October 2016.
Erica grew up in southern New Mexico. After graduating from New Mexico State University in 2010 with a degree in journalism and mass communications, she started her career by moving up north to Albuquerque to take a job as a morning associate producer and writer at NBC-affiliate KOB in the Duke City.
She worked her way off the morning shift, by producing every newscast that aired at the station, from the morning and mid-day, to the evening and late newscasts.
Erica continued her trek north in 2014, accepting a job at KMGH in Denver, as the weekend 5 p.m. producer, her first move out of her home state. While at KMGH, she went on to become a weekday evening producer. Erica spent two years at KMGH before accepting a new position at 9NEWS.
After previously producing the Saturday 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts, Erica took on the challenge of producing Next with Kyle Clark in 2019.
While Erica may not be a native of Colorado, in the five years she's lived here she's grown to love the Centennial state. She's learned how to snowboard, hiked her first 14er, and learned how to bundle up in real winters that she didn't get to experience in New Mexico.
An avid runner, Erica has visited several of Denver and Colorado's parks for long runs and to train for half marathons. Erica is currently working on running a half marathon in every state, which is an item on her bucket list.
