DENVER — Luis de Leon is a multi-skilled journalist at 9NEWS in Denver, Colorado.

Luis joined the 9NEWS team in May 2021 from TEGNA sister station KVUE-TV in Austin, Texas, where he worked for nearly three years as a multi-skilled journalist.

During his time in Austin, Luis covered everything from breaking news, to state politics, to natural disasters like Hurricane Laura and Texas’ winter storm in 2021. He also told stories about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Central Texas.

Luis was born and raised in a small town in northeast Wisconsin (Go Pack Go!), but his family roots stem from El Salvador in Central America. Luis graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he studied Journalism and completed several internships.

Luis is a big time soccer fan, particularly watching Major League Soccer in the U.S. and the English Premier League in Europe.

When he’s not playing or watching soccer, you can catch Luis spending time with friends and family, watching a documentary or catching up on a good book or podcast.
