COLORADO, USA — Misty Montano is 9NEWS' Digital Director and a member of the organization's Executive Leadership Team. She works with Tim Ryan, Director of Content, and Megan Jurgemeyer, News Director, to lead the 9NEWS editorial team.
Misty champions 9NEWS efforts around content distribution, audience loyalty and engagement, new products and digital strategy. She oversees 9NEWS' digital platforms, including 9NEWS.com, 9NEWS iOS and android apps and sills for phones and streaming video and audio devices along with 9NEWS social media accounts. She also manages the 9NEWS Digital Desk Team and works with the marketing, community relations and sales teams.
The Digital Desk Team manages newsroom assignments, urgently/aggressively covers breaking news and oversees the quality of 9NEWS digital content across all digital, mobile, streaming, audio and social media platforms. Digital Desk Producers are leaders on the editorial team who produce and distribute content to meet people wherever they are.

She supports and teaches others to tell stories using multiple platforms by focusing on how people engage with content on all screens. She is always looking for multiplatform producers and journalists who are interested in learning about 9NEWS.
She received an EMMY for Interactivity in 2013 for her work producing Social TV which brought community members, experts and parents together for a live #SafeKids chat that was integrated into a live newscast.
Misty started her professional career at KCNC-TV in October of 2000. There she received her first regional EMMY for contributions made during breaking news coverage as an Assignment Editor. She successfully integrated the position on the news desk with social networks and is always looking for that next step, the next Internet tool, to keep relevant as a journalist.
She is a native of Nebraska who proudly cheers for the Nebraska Huskers. She received a B.A. in Media Communication from Hastings College, NE.
She often asks, "why not?" Instead of "why." She's not afraid of trying and failing. She appreciates her colleagues for continually changing strategy to try something new or different. She promises she won't let them fail horribly.
