Colorado Ballet institues staff layoffs, furloughs

DENVER - In response to the current economic environment, Colorado Ballet announced Thursday they will institute a series of layoffs and furloughs.

These changes will affect the administrative, production, Academy and education departments of the organization. Programs of the Colorado Ballet, including classes at the Academy and educational programming will continue to operate as normal.

"I am confident that Colorado Ballet's programs will not be significantly impacted by these layoffs and furloughs," said Colorado Ballet Artistic Director Gil Boggs. "I have no doubt that the community will continue to see Colorado Ballet produce superior quality ballet - on the stage, in the community and in our Academy classes." The furloughs will be between two andfour weeks. No dancers in the company are affected by this move. The number of layoffs has not been released yet. />
