From fairs and expos to sports and musicals, there's lots to do in Colorado this January weekend. There are fly fishing, home remodeling and bridal shows, plus the Avalanche, Nuggets and Mammoth are all in action at Pepsi Center and the first Colorado music festival of 2019 opens in Steamboat Springs.

The Fly Fishing Show — Denver

Anglers, rejoice! The new year means new opportunities for fishing and exploring the wilderness of Colorado. This weekend's Fly Fishing Show offers classes, seminars, experts, demonstrations, films, authors, the latest gear and more. Fly Fishers International will be offering free fly fishing instruction for newcomers, teaching the basics in fly-casting, fly-tying and knots. The Fly Fishing Show runs Friday to Sunday at the Denver Mart off I-25 and 58th Ave.

Resolve 1M/5K/10K — Denver

Many of us resolve to be more healthy, to eat better, to get going and to get faster. Take the first step towards conquering your resolutions with the Resolve 1 mile, 5K or 10K at Denver's City Park. Make 2019 your healthiest year ever, starting Saturday at 8 a.m.

10K & 5K at Platte River Trailhead Park — Thornton

This January weekend is perfect for a brisk 10K or 5K race under the clear Colorado skies. The two runs will take place at 9 a.m. at Thornton's Platte River Trailhead Park near 88th and Colorado.

The MusicFest — Steamboat Springs

The 2019 Colorado live music schedule kicks off this weekend with The MusicFest in Steamboat Springs. The six-day festival, which begins Saturday, features more than 200 hours of live music. This year's lineup includes Josh Abbott, Turnpike Troubadours, Thom Shepherd, Wade Bowen, Reckless Kelly, Mark Chesnutt, Bri Bagwell, Bruce Robison, Adam Hood and many more.

Kicker Arenacross — Loveland

More than 150 truckloads of dirt have been hauled into Loveland's Budweiser Events Center to create a motorcycle race course that will challenge even the toughest of riders. Kicker Arenacross, one of the nation's top indoor motorcycle race series, features massive race course with high-bank turns and technical rhythm sections. The show also features motorcycle stunt riders jumping over 70 feet into the air in the ultimate freestyle motocross event. Kicker Arenacross invades the Budweiser Events Center this Friday and Saturday.

Movie at the Symphony: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix — Denver

The Harry Potter Film Concert Series continues this weekend with another unforgettable performance from the Colorado Symphony. This weekend features a screening of the feature film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with the score performed with the live symphony. Performances are set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Boettcher Concert Hall. For tickets, visit ColoradoSymphony.org.

Colorado Springs Home Building & Remodeling Show — Colorado Springs

Colorado Avalanche vs. New York Rangers — Denver

The Colorado Avalanche have hit a bumpy stretch, but look to right the ship this Friday night at Pepsi Center. The Avs host the New York Rangers at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at AltitudeTickets.com.

Denver Nuggets vs. Charlotte Hornets — Denver

Mile High City basketball returns home to Pepsi Center on Saturday for an afternoon matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. The Denver Nuggets and Hornets tip off at 3 p.m. Regular tickets and Family Night ticket packages can be found at AltitudeTickets.com.

Colorado Mammoth vs. Calgary Roughnecks — Denver

Professional lacrosse season is back and the Colorado Mammoth host the dreaded Calgary Roughnecks on Sunday. Mammoth vs. Roughnecks will take the Sunday afternoon spot usually occupied by Broncos football, with a 1 p.m. start this weekend. She Loves Me — Denver

She Loves Me, the newest production from the Performance Now Theatre Company, opens this Friday. Nominated for five Tony Awards in 1964, She Loves Me is considered by many to be one of the most charming musicals ever written. The touching show features a case of mistaken identity and letter writing in which two feuding perfume clerks have no idea they're in love. She Loves Me plays through Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Lakewood Cultural Center.

Are you or someone you know tying the know in 2019? The Colorado Bridal Show is your one-stop shop for wedding planning, gowns, flowers, samples, prizes and more. New year, new you! For all of us looking to get back in shape before beach season, the Colorado Springs Fitness Expo is a great start. The event, which runs Saturday at the Colorado Springs City Auditorium, offers live fitness classes, local fitness trainers and a vendor showcase with information on nutrition, workouts, accessories and skin care. Best of all, admission to the expo is free.

Christmas Bird Count For Kids at Barr Lake — Brighton

Christmas may be past, but the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies is holding a “Christmas” Bird Count, geared toward the younger crowd. The Christmas Bird Count for Kids is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Barr Lake State Park. The event is designed to get young birders involved in the tradition of annual bird counts, foster a conservation ethic and give families a chance to get outdoors for a fun event.
