Underground Music Showcase: Everything you need to know about the festival taking over South Broadway this weekend

The indie music festival has been a summer staple in Denver for 19 years.

DENVER — From Friday, July 26 through Sunday, July 28, Denver's South Broadway neighborhood will be lined with fans and musicians enjoying one of the longest-running music festivals in the Mile High City.

More than 200 bands and artists will be performing at three outdoor stages and 16 indoor venues during the Underground Music Showcase's (UMS) 19th year.

Many genres of music are represented at UMS and both local and national bands are featured. The national headliners include Honne, Chicano Batman, Black Mountain, Tuxedo, Earthgang, and Still Woozy.

In addition to all the music, there will drinks, food trucks and hangout lounges with live DJs between sets. Local restaurants and bars along South Broadway will also be open for food and drinks.

Here's a full guide to this year's festival:

You can also make an account on the UMS website to create a personalized schedule of the bands you want to see to make sure you don't miss anything.

Transportation and parking

Parking is expected to be tough during UMS.

Organizers suggest calling a rideshare (Lyft promo codes are available), riding your bike, taking light rail, or at least carpooling.

Once you arrive at the festival, e-Tuk (an electric three-wheel shuttle bus company) will be offering free rides between the outdoor stages. Lyft will also offer $1 rides within the UMS footprint.

Food and Drinks

Each of the outdoor stages will have a bar or booze garden stocked with plenty of beer, wine and cocktails.

There will be a variety of food trucks parked near the Knockout Stage at Punch Bowl Social.

Many of the venues participating in the festival are also hosting food specials. Check the websites and social media pages of the places you plan to be to see what they will be offering.

To ensure everyone is staying safe and hydrated, water stations will also be available at each outdoor stage.
