This weekend, we’re also off to the races – the Dragon Boat Races that is! The 18th annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival starts on Saturday at Sloan’s Lake in Edgewater. Teams from all over the country will test their paddling skills on dragon boats… which honors a 2,000 year-old Chinese tradition. Races start at 8 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. But, there’s plenty to do in between. Watch martial arts demonstrations, Chinese dances and even a spicy ramen eating contest. The event is free – parking is $5 dollars at Auraria Campus with a free shuttle to and from the festival. Find all the details at cdbf.org.

The Arapahoe County Fair

And finally, tis the season of summer fairs! So, head over to Aurora for the Arapahoe County Fair going on now through Sunday. This one’s got it all! Rodeos, a craft beer fest, dueling dogs and all the 4-H fun you can pack into a barn! Of course, you’ll also find amazing concerts, fireworks and every kind of festival food on a stick. Tickets are only $15 and are available at the gate or online. The fair is located at Arapahoe County Fairgrounds off East Quincy avenue. Go to ArapahoeCountyFair.com for all the details.
