From a big beach party in Arvada to paddling down the South Platte river, this weekend is shaping up to be a busy one - so let's get started!
Sand in the City
Break out the shovels and buckets. The Sand in the City Festival takes over Arvada June 23 and 24.
Colorado's premier beach party is expected to attract more than 15,000 visitors this year. The two-day festival incudes amazing sand sculptures, live music, kid's zone and a luau!
Sand in the city is presented by the Arvada Chamber of Commerce and costs $5 dollars. Kids 12 and under are free.
The festival runs Saturday from 10. Am to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 am to 5 p.m. Find all the fun at Ralston Park and visit SandintheCityArvada.org.
Denver Taco Festival
Holy taco Batman! The Denver Taco Festival also kicks off this weekend. Enjoy the best tacos in the city - along with live music, Lucha Libre Wrestling, high speed daredevil chihuahua races, a game show, tequila tasting and more. The festival runs Saturday noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. At tickets are $5 and tacos are only two bucks each. You can find the festival at 725 west W 39th Ave. in Denver. South Platte RiverFest
Get paddling at the South Platte RiverFest on Saturday, June 23. Denver's premier urban river festival benefits the Greenway Foundation which works to improve the health of the South Platte River and its tributaries. The event includes stand up paddle board demos, kayak and tube races, a kid's zone, live music, beer, food, product displays and more. RiverFest runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Shoemaker Plaza and Confluence Park. It's free to attend. For details visit the GreenwayFoundation.org.
