We don't do National Such-and-Such Days here on Next.
Nothing like National Lunch Meat Day, or National Take Your Nephew To Work Day, or National Cantaloupe Awareness Day, or even National Dog Day - which happens to fall on the same day as Women's Equality Day.
For that one, we decided to break our rule, here on Next, if only to put the spotlight back where it should be: on the fight for women's equality, and the pioneering women who got us to where we are today.
Looking back, The Eagle Valley Enterprise couldn't be bothered to put women's suffrage on the front page once it was ratified. They tucked it back on page Six.
Betty Heid knows the headlines Colorado's women have made since then. She's the chair of the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame, and she introduced us to nine women who had a great influence on Colorado, and the world. Those being Rachel Noel, Isabella Bird, Marian Downs, Chipeta, Madeline Albright, Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Golda Meir, Florence Sabin and Hattie McDaniel.
