The newest member of Aurora's K9 unit helped apprehend a suspect for the first time this week.

The department's K9 unit gave a shout out to Deuce on its Facebook page for a job well done.

Officers from Aurora and Denver were looking for a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run and had eluded officers Thursday evening. Two people ran from the vehicle.

One of them was quickly located by officers but the other was believed to be hiding in the area. Officers called in K9 Deuce who quickly alerted them to a large camper in a driveway.

Officers warned the suspect to surrender when he didn't Deuce was sent in to help. He went under the trailer and located the second suspect hiding between the trailer floor and the axle off the ground.

He refused to cooperate so Deuce engaged the suspect and helped pull the party out and safely into custody.

Way to go K9 Deuce!
