Jarrin Mumby and Kayla Mumby celebrated their fairytale wedding this weekend, but there was concern that the day would never come.
"I'm so thankful that we still have her and that this is able to happen," Peggy Clark, Kayla's mother, said.
Jarrin and Kayla met while both of them were undergoing treatment for cancer. He had Hodgkins Lymphoma. She has a brain tumor.
"Jarrin had just finished his last treatment and Kayla is still fighting her battle," Clark said. "She's been through two brain surgeries, Chemo for a year."
The couple is already married, but never got to have the big wedding they always dreamed about.
"We've always wanted to have a wedding like this, it just wasn't the right time with me being in treatment again," Kayla said.
The treatments and medical costs made it impossible until her friend Kali Taaffe Rawls stepped in to make it happen.
"They both had had a crazy journey. They never had a real wedding," Rawls said.
She planned a wedding and secured vendors who were willing donate services or offer discounted rates for the couple.
" Telling their story, it caught a lot of people's hearts," Rawls said.
On Friday, it was finally their day. A day to celebrate and forget about the cancer.
"For the first time in years I feel beautiful and feminine," Kayla said. "I'm not just a sick person. I'm a princess today."
