Two doctors have been collecting world-class art for years, and now they are sharing their passion with the community by putting their collection on public display.

Doctor Morton Mower is an adjunct professor at CU Anschutz and is co-inventor of the automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillator, a type of pacemaker.

He's also an avid art collector.

He and his wife have amassed an impressive collection including pieces by Monet, Renoir, Picasso, and Rodin.

And though they purchased the works to enjoy in their home, they also love teaching and sharing their passion with others.

Which is why they are putting a portion of their collection on display at the Anchutz Medical Campus.

Mower works as an adjunct professor on the campus and the couple's daughter graduated from the CU Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

They thought it would be a perfect place for the exhibit as it would give students who are often buried in textbooks and intense course work a break to enjoy beauty and culture.

The Masterworks Collection will be on display at the Fulginiti Art Gallery starting Friday. It is free and open to the public Monday through Friday 9 am - 5 pm until May 24.
