Proctor's Garden: Celebrating the wonderful world of color

Throughout the garden, color in everywhere right now.

When I was a boy, I was heavily influenced by Walt Disney's "Wonderful World of Color." I never missed it on Sunday evening.

I was reminded of that program and its theme song when a kind friend gave me two shelves that used to be in an art store. They held tubes of paint. My team re-purposed them to hold a collection of succulents in brightly-colored pots.

Throughout the garden color in everywhere right now, from the pastels of the English-style borders to big patches by the potting shed of blue larkspur, pink mallow and white feverfew. Even the vegetables are colorful. The purple cauliflower are delightful.

As the words to the theme song say, "The world is a carousel of color." Indeed it is.
