Landri Taylor, former Denver Public Schools board member, dies

Taylor is remembered as a champion for choice and community activist.

DENVER — A force in local public education has passed away. Landri Taylor served on the board of education for Denver Public Schools (DPS) from 2013 to 2016.

Taylor fought for high-quality school choices especially in Montbello, Park Hill, and Stapleton.

He was also the former chairman of the Denver Democratic Party, president of the Urban League of Denver and an inductee into the Colorado Black Hall of Fame.

“We are all heartbroken to learn of his passing. Landri felt strongly about public education and his impact on our school district and community was immeasurable,” said DPS Superintendent Susana Cordova. “Landri will be missed, but we all can take comfort in his devotion to our young people and in his lifetime of contributions and accomplishments. Our prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

He leaves behind his wife, three kids, and four grandkids.
