DENVER - Thousands of dog lovers, dog breeders and the stars of the event -- the dogs -- will gather in Denver for the Denver Dog Show.

There will be events Feb. 11 to 15 at The National Western Complex at 4655 Humboldt Street in Denver. About 2,000 dogs and their handlers will compete each day in categories like conformation, agility, obedience and rally. Visitors can expect to see more than 175 recognized AKC dog breeds.

Karissa Groves, 14, from Elizabeth joined us on 9NEWS Mornings. Groves is showing her bloodhound Sebastian at the Denver Dog Show. She will be competing in the Junior Showmanship where they will be judged on skills like handling, presentation skills and team work.

Sebastian specializes in "conformation," which is when the judge chooses the dog who conforms best to the standard.

The general public is welcome to attend any of the upcoming shows.

Doors open Thursday at 7:30 a.m., and ticket prices are $5 at the door. Children under 12 years old are free.
