Winter Bike to Work Day: Free breakfast stations across Colorado

Coloradans join thousands around the globe taking part in Winter Bike to Work Day.

COLORADO, USA — Dust off your bicycle for the annual Winter to Work Day in Colorado.

Denver Regional Council of Governments, in partnership with seven regional transportation management associations, encourages commuters to bike to work on Friday, Feb. 10.

The day is meant to help riders save money on their commutes, improve their health, lower stress levels while improving congestions and pollution.

To participate in Winter Bike to Work Day and earn a chance to win prizes, visit BikeToWorkDay.co and pledge to ride.

Aurora

The City of Aurora is participating in Winter Bike to Work Day with a breakfast station from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the High Line Canal Trail underpass just west of Chambers Road and northeast of the Aurora Municipal Center. Riders can grab a breakfast burrito and coffee or water.

The Northeast Transportation Connection will host a breakfast station at Stanley Marketplace with coffee and churros from 6:30 to 9 a.m.

Boulder

The Boulder community can celebrate Winter Bike to Work Day with several breakfast stations in and around Boulder, serving free food and drinks from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

"We are thrilled to be able to celebrate winter bicycle commuting again this year and encourage you to get out there on Feb.10 — even if you consider yourself a ‘fair weather rider,’" Community Cycles Executive Director Sue Prant said. "You might be surprised at how easy it is to plan for the weather and have an enjoyable ride."

Denver

The City of Denver has several stations set up Friday for commuters:

  • Civic Center Station at 14th and Bannock
    • 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday
  • 1401 Zuni Street
    • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday with water bottles
  • 15th and Arapahoe 
    • 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday with burritos and coffee
  • Speer and Wewatta 
    • 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday with snacks and swag
  • South Platte River Trail near REI
    • 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with fruit and snacks

Lakewood

Join the City of Lakewood and Bike Jeffco for coffee and breakfast burritos at the east entrance of at Addenbrooke Park, just west of Garrison and Center, from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Parker

Waffle House will be serving free coffee and waffles at Plaza Drive at Parker Road from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.
