97.3 KBCO legend retires after 38 years

97.3 KBCO's charity series has produced 35 CDs recorded in KBCO Studio C.

DENVER — Scott Arbough is retiring after 38 years at iHeartMedia Denver’s 97.3 KBCO.

Arbough has served as KBCO program director for the past 23 years. His last day at the radio station will be March 31.

Arbough joined KBCO's air staff in 1985 after serving as music director at KTCL in Fort Collins.

Later, Arbough became the KBCO Studio C engineer and producer of the popular KBCO Studio C charity CD series. The series has produced 35 CDs, two vinyl albums and two vinyl singles of music recorded in KBCO Studio C that have raised money to benefit local charities.

"It has been an amazing journey and the thrill of a lifetime to be a part of KBCO for 38 years," Arbough said.

"I have been inspired by the extremely talented radio professionals who have dedicated their careers to creating this iconic radio station," he said. "I wish to thank each of them for their commitment to our community and for believing in our mission to create this unique and successful radio station. I begin the next phase of my life knowing that the team at KBCO will carry on for many years to come."

In December of 2018, KBCO was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.
