Local entrepreneur starts coworking office center to help women in construction

Jessica Acosta is the founder of Edifice 2120, a coworking office center where women in construction can run their businesses.

DENVER — Jessica Acosta is an entrepreneur who leads Environmental Consulting Services. She is also the founder of Edifice 2120, a coworking office center where women in construction can run their businesses.

The demand for coworking spaces is up with the shift to more remote work. Some estimates say the number of coworking spaces in the country could double by 2025.

"Having an office space that can provide support for other women in the same industry and kind of lend a hand up to other women that are trying to achieve and make their mark in the industry as well, that's what I had in mind as far as creating this space," Acosta said. "You know, a safe space that can provide opportunities but also collaboration among others"

Acosta said while she wants to help women in construction, she also welcomes those of all genders in other industries.

Edifice 2120 is located at 8th and I-25, just one exit south of downtown. Its mission is to create a collaborative workspace through community building, strategic alliances, and networking. That's well suited to take advantage of the growing need.

According to SpaceIQ, by 2030, the flexible workspace market will represent 30% of U.S. office stock, with millions more people expected to have coworking memberships.

Jessica's Hispanic heritage informs the way she leads her business. She says she hopes her work ethic inspires others.

"I hope that my contribution reflects inspiration and encouragement for other women," Acosta said.

Indeed it does. Her determination and discipline have been key to her success so far - creating a coworking place for others who are dedicated to the same.
