DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL — Colorado's manufacturing industry health report card remains dismal; receiving another "D" grade this year.
All 50 states' manufacturing sectors are given grades annually in the Manufacturing and Logistics Report Card released by the Ball State Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) and Conexus Indiana.
For the past four years, Colorado hasn't managed better than the "D" grade.
"The Manufacturing & Logistics Report Card shows how each state ranks among its peers in several categories that are of particular interest to site selection experts for the manufacturing and logistics industries. To measure manufacturing industry health, we include three variables: the share of total income earned by manufacturing employees in each state, the wage premium paid to manufacturing workers relative to the other states’ employees, and the share of manufacturing employment per capita," according to the report's authors.
