DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL — Cupertino-based Apple Inc. is being spared from this round of Trump administration-ordered tariffs, which will increase duties on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports, effective later this month.
In early September, Apple warned it could face tariffs on a “wide range” of its products — notably the Apple Watch, AirPods and Apple Home. Those fears were not realized this week, when the office of the U.S. Trade Representative published a list of products that would be affected by the new tariffs.
This is the second round of tariffs in what’s become a steadily escalating trade war with China, the U.S.' largest commercial partner.
In the first round, the Trump administration ordered new tariffs on $50 billion worth of Chinese imports. In this round, the administration will levy a 10 percent tariff on another $200 billion worth of Chinese imports. Those tariffs will rise to 25 percent on Jan. 1, after the holiday buying season.
