North Face parent company to take over entire downtown building

KUSA — VF Corp, the retailer that owns brands such as the North Face and JanSport, will occupy an entire downtown Denver building when it relocates its headquarters to the Mile High City in early 2019.

VF Corp will move into what was once the Gates headquarters at 1551 Wewatta Street, according to a news release from the company. It will occupy all 10 floors of the building and around 285,000 square feet.

The lease will last for 12 years, and renovations are expected to be completed in early 2020. When VF Corp first announced its move from Greensboro, North Carolina to Denver, it claimed it will bring 800 new jobs to the city. The new building has a capacity of 1,200 workers, according to the news release.

VF Corp will be the 11th Fortune 500 company to move to Colorado. It received a $27 million incentive from the Colorado Economic Development Commission to move to Denver – the second largest such package ever offered by the Centennial State.

Steve Rendle, VF Corp’s CEO, acknowledged Colorado is a fit for the company both in terms of the outdoor culture and business environment.
