DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Health care fields continue to dominate the highest-paying jobs in the Denver metro, based on the most recent statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics released in April.

The ranking of the top 25 jobs — in this case, those earning $143,500 or more — is based on BLS's annual mean wage data for each profession in the 10-county Denver-Aurora-Lakewood metropolitan statistical area, as of May 2017, the most recent data available. =

Only professions that employ at least 100 people in metro Denver are included. In some cases, the BLS job classifications lump together two or more similar professions; in other cases, certain jobs — like "manager" or "surgeon" — are divided up into different classifications based on specialty.

The top 5 are below:

1. Obstetricians and gynecologists ($277,770 average annual wage in Denver)
2. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons ($269,490 average annual wage in Denver)
3. Anesthesiologists ($261,920 average annual wage in Denver)
4. Physicians and surgeons, other ($253,000 average annual wage in Denver)
5. Surgeons ($239,850 average annual wage in Denver)
