Broncos rank among NFL teams with best brand equity

DENVER — In the upcoming season, fans will spend millions of dollars to see the Denver Broncos play, either in Denver or on the road. But where do the Broncos rank in terms of how much fans are willing to pay to attend their games?

Michael Lewis, a professor at Atlanta-based Emory University who specializes in sports marketing and analytics, conducts a yearly ranking that projects each NFL team's brand equity, based on how much money fans are willing to spend in a season when comparing ticket prices, home and away attendance, and social media following after controlling for factors like market size and short-term changes in winning and losing.

The Dallas Cowboys lead in every category but one – social equity, which went to the New England Patriots.

In the latest Forbes valuation rankings for NFL teams, the Broncos saw their valuation increase 2 percent between the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The team generated $427 million in revenue last season, and posted $106 million in operating income, according to Forbes.
