Medved family ranch perched above Denver on site of former ski resort lists for $26M

The 17,000-square-foot, nine-bedroom home named Bear Mountain Ranch is set on 327 acres south of Interstate 70 near Genesee.

GENESEE, Colo. — Denver business leaders John and Debi Medved are selling their urban-adjacent ranch perched on a mountainside just beyond the Mile High City.

The Medved home of 20-plus years, set on 327 acres south of Interstate 70 near Genesee, is on the market for $25.8 million.

The couple, who purchased their first car dealership more than 30 years ago, sold their six dealerships to Foundation Automotive Corp. of Canada on Aug. 3. While John Medved continues to be involved in wholesale accessory sales serving dealerships in 10 states, working two or three days a week, he said they are downsizing at home as well.

The couple built their 17,000-square-foot, nine-bedroom home named Bear Mountain Ranch to enjoy with their six children while juggling their growing business.

"I didn't want to be a long way from work. I wanted to be able to go to work, come home, have dinner, go back if I had to. And that was not an easy profile to fill," John Medved told Denver Business Journal. "Only by the grace of the Lord were we able to find the property that we found and develop it into what we did."
