DENVER — Sixty-three percent of millennials working from home across the U.S. are planning on buying a house directly as a result of their ability to work remotely, according to survey results released Wednesday by Realtor.com. About half (49%) of those surveyed are planning on buying sooner than their original timeline.
The Santa Clara-based company also found that 68% of respondents were able to save more for down payments during shelter-in-place orders, although with rising home prices — in Denver, September resulted in the "toughest market to buy a house in Denver metro's history" — 45% expect to receive assistance from family or friends.
So where are the hot neighborhoods for millennials to settle, whether they buy or rent?
Denver Business Journal consulted neighborhoods and schools website Niche, which uses U.S. Census data on age and education as well as other factors such as access to bars and restaurants, affordability and job opportunities to see which areas of the city are the most appealing to young professionals.
