A farming accident in rural Weld County north of Greeley ripped a small flowline from an old well, sending oil, natural gas and water spilling onto the field, Bayswater Exploration and Production, a private Denver-based energy company said Monday.

The incident occurred about 8 a.m. Monday and involved a freshly plowed field, a tractor, and a vertical well originally drilled in 2008, Steve Struna, Bayswater’s president, told the Denver Business Journal.

The farmer contacted the company, which brought in experts who stopped the leak about 3:35 p.m., the company said in a statement.

The farmer was ok and no one was injured, Struna said. Galeton Fire Department also responded.
