LONGMONT — Oskar Blues is stepping up once again to provide relief to hurricane-stricken areas of the country.

Hurricane Michael tore through the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday as the third strongest storm to hit the United States mainland in recorded history.

As of Friday morning, the storm had claimed 13 lives, left over a million people without power and caused extensive damage across multiple states.

In partnership with the Can’d Aid Foundation and Ball Corporation, Oskar Blues plans to manufacture 66,000 cans of drinking water to be sent to areas impacted by the storm.

Employees at the Longmont facility are canning the water Friday, which will then be driven to Florida and distributed to various hurricane relief centers.

Oskar Blues Brewery has halted beer production in the past to can water for those impacted by Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Harvey.
