AURORA, Colo. — The City of Aurora has a better way to dispose of your old mattress or box spring than by sending it to a landfill or dumping it illegally.

Spring Back Colorado Mattress Recycling and the City of Aurora are hosting a mattress recycling event on Saturday, May 25 at Central Facilities Recycling Center (13646 E. Ellsworth Ave.) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The cost is $20 per mattress or box spring.

Between 20 and 40 million mattresses end up in landfills each year in the United States, according to Spring Back Colorado Mattress Recycling and the City of Aurora. Over 90 percent of each mattress can be broken down into individual components via recycling.
