The public is urged to look out for a 17-year-old inmate who escaped from a Jefferson County juvenile detention center on Monday evening.
Marcos Arredondo is accused of climbing over a perimeter fence at the Mount View Youth Services Center in Lakewood around 8:20 p.m. on Monday. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Arredondo was able to escape while he was taking out the trash with staff and another inmate.
Both inmates tried to escape, but Arredondo's partner didn't make it over the fence and was quickly apprehended.
Arredondo has two cases pending in Denver and Boulder for aggravated robbery. He also has a pending escape charge in Arapahoe County.
The sheriff's office alerted media of the escape on Tuesday afternoon -- a full 16 hours after he first climbed the fence.
Anyone who may know where Arredondo could be is urged to call 911.
9NEWS has requested more information about Arredondo's pending escape charge in Arapahoe County and about the delay in releasing information about Monday's escape.
