2 arrested after man killed in random shooting in west Denver

Richard Marin, 20, and Raylene Chacon, 19, were arrested. Police said the shooting was random.

DENVER — A man and woman were arrested after a man was killed in a random shooting in west Denver Monday afternoon, according to the Denver Police Department (DPD).

DPD responded to the 1000 block of N. Sheridan Boulevard just after 3 p.m. and located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. He was identified Thursday as 20-year-old Jayden Calloway.

Investigators learned that the suspects fled the area in a vehicle.

Officers said Wednesday they arrested 20-year-old Richard Marin for investigation of first-degree murder. Raylene Chacon, 19, was arrested for investigation of accessory to first-degree murder. 

Investigators believe the suspects and did not know Calloway and the shooting was random.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or by visiting metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers are notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
