Elbert County — Two people are in custody after a fight led to a shooting Saturday night at a large rodeo event, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office said.

At about 7:30 p.m., investigators say a fight broke out near the 44000 block of Comanche Creek Road.

One of the people involved eventually pulled out a gun and started shooting, the sheriff’s office said.

It’s unclear if anyone was struck, but the sheriff’s office said two people working at the event were treated for minor injuries related to the fight.

Two other people were later taken into custody on charges related to the shooting.

The sheriff’s office estimates that between 1,000 and 1,500 people were in attendance when gunfire rang out.

The identities of the suspects have not yet been released.
