4 males arrested in connection with Englewood shooting

A 13-year-old boy was killed in the shooting and an 18-year-old was shot in the neck.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Four males have been arrested in connection with an incident that ended in the death of a 13-year-old boy and the injury of an 18-year-old man in Englewood Sunday.

Jesus Perez-Medrano, 19, was arrested in Centennial Tuesday. Two other 17-year-old males were arrested Wednesday, and the fourth individual, also age 17, was arrested Thursday. Englewood Police did not release the names of the juveniles who were arrested.

Englewood Police spokesperson Scot Allen said the shooting was reported just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of the alley between South Bannock Street and South Acoma Street. That's near East Hampden Avenue and South Broadway.

According to a release from Englewood Police, the young boy died at the scene. The Arapahoe County Coroner said he had been shot to death, but did not identify the 13-year-old by name citing his age. 

The 18-year-old was shot in the neck and taken to the hospital in critical condition, police said.

Police said the initial investigation revealed that the incident began as an attempted robbery.
