2 men killed in shooting at Aurora strip mall identified

Police said it happened at the Smoke and Vapes store near East 6th Avenue and Chambers Road.

AURORA, Colo. — Two men are dead after a shooting at a strip mall in Aurora Friday evening. 

According to the Aurora Police Department (APD), officers responded to the Smoke and Vapes store at 15270 East 6th Avenue after dispatchers received calls about a shooting there. 

When officers arrived, APD said, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead. 

Police said the facts and circumstances leading up to the shooting are still being determined, but detectives believe everyone involved has been identified, but no one has been arrested.

The victims were later identified as 19-year-old Issac Lamar Smith, Jr. and 20-year-old Va-Jon Donovan Lewis.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
