The FBI agent whose gun fired and hit a man at a Denver bar shortly after he did a backflip has pleaded guilty to third-degree assault for the June incident, according to court documents obtained by 9NEWS on Friday.
This means that Chase Bishop, 30, will avoid jail time. He had initially been charged with second-degree assault but was able to negotiate a lesser plea.
In addition to fines, Bishop has also been sentenced to two years of probation, the documents say.

A video that has garnered national attention showed Bishop at Mile High Spirits during the early morning hours of June 2. Bishop did a backflip and dropped his gun. When he reached for the weapon, it discharged, hitting Thomas Reddington in the lower leg.
Reddington’s injuries were not considered serious.
Bishop was first offered a plea deal in July, when it became clear he was not drunk at the time of the incident. He has been allowed to keep his weapons and ammunition, and was slated to go to trial in May 2019.
The FBI has not commented on the status of Bishop’s employment.
