ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — Editor's note: An earlier version of this story inaccurately listed Rae's charges. The story has since been updated.
The Aurora prep school dean accused of making threats against administrators and bringing a gun onto school grounds is also accused in several domestic violence incidents in Denver.
On Wednesday, the Denver District Attorney's Office announced several charges against Tushar Aftab Rae, 30, including felony menacing and kidnapping. He is also facing charges in Arapahoe County and was in court last Monday there to be formally advised.
His preliminary hearing court date in Arapahoe County was set for June 10. The Denver District Court scheduled his next court date there for May 1.
In Denver, Rae is facing charges of felony menacing, kidnapping, false imprisonment and prohibited use of a weapon, according to the Denver DA. He is facing two counts of attempted assault with a deadly weapon, one count of possession of a weapon on school grounds and carrying a concealed weapon in Arapahoe County, according to a courts spokesperson.
In the Denver County case, Rae was arrested over a different series of incidents. According to a Denver arrest affidavit, an unnamed victim had two separate, domestic violence-related interactions with Rae.
One involved the same gun used to threaten the Aurora West College Preparatory Academy, according to the affidavit. The other involved false imprisonment and was not resolved until the Denver Police Department showed up.
Both happened in the month leading up to the Aurora West incident, which happened on April 3.
According to the Denver affidavit, Rae and the victim attended a work function on March 1 where they went to an escape room and then later a bar — where Rae shared marijuana edibles. The affidavit says they then returned to Rae's home.

Rae felt depressed later that evening when the victim wanted to leave, the affidavit says. He then pulled out a black Remington — the victim told investigators it was the same weapon brought to Aurora West — and pointed it at her chest, according to the affidavit.
Then he moved the gun just to the side of her and the victim heard it go off, the arrest affidavit says.
The victim then fled and told investigators she didn't report the incident for a redacted reason and because she did not want Rae to kill himself. According to the affidavit, Rae told the victim that if he killed himself it would be her fault.
Then, on March 7, the victim told investigators she was on her way to another work function when she stopped at Rae's house. According to the affidavit, Rae was feeling sorry for himself and was depressed when she wanted to leave. The victim invited Rae along, but instead, he told her not to leave and would not let her leave, the affidavit says.

According to the arrest report, the victim eventually had to call police after Rae grabbed her arm and threw her down on the couch. DPD showed up to Rae's house and he let the victim leave.
Officers reported there had been a verbal argument and that they'd advised both parties.
