61-year-old stabbing victim identified

Oliver Baclayon, 29, faces one charge of first-degree murder in the woman's death.

DENVER — A woman who was stabbed to death in northeast Denver has been identified as 61-year-old Elma Giron.

The man accused of killing her, 29-year-old Oliver Baclayon, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Denver Police said officers responded to a 911 call of a stabbing in the 14600 block of East Elk Place on the night of Jan. 20. That's located in the Montbello neighborhood, north of Interstate 70 and west of Chambers Road.

The arrest affidavit says when officers arrived at the home, they found Baclayon waiting on the front porch and the victim inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, prosecutors announced a criminal case against Baclayon had been opened and that he had been charged with one count of murder in the first degree.

The heavily redacted arrest affidavit does not reveal any information about the circumstances of the stabbing or a possible motive.
