DENVER — A deputy was sent to the hospital Tuesday night after a jail inmate punched her in the face, according to Denver Sheriff Department spokesperson Daria Serna.
A tweet from Denver Sheriffs FOP said that the incident was unprovoked, and that the inmate involved has a history of assaulting staff.
As a result, assault charges were filed against the inmate. His name has not yet been released.
The officer went to Denver Health on her own and was released a short time later, Serna said.
